Setting Up and Managing Reminders

Reminders let you receive an alert before an assignment is due, or when a class or event is about to start. You can add reminders to any assignment, class schedule, or event, and choose whether each is delivered as a push notification or an email.

Setting a Default Reminder

To avoid re-configuring the same type and offset every time, set the defaults under the Reminders section of Settings → Preferences to control what is pre-filled on each new reminder:

  • Default reminder — the default reminder type (Email or Push)
  • Default “Remind before” — the default offset value and unit (e.g., “1 Day”, “10 minutes”)

Adding a Reminder

For an Assignment or Event

  1. Open the Planner and click on an assignment or event to open its details
  2. In the details panel, click +
  3. Enter a Message for the reminder, Type, and Remind before
  4. Click Save

For a Class

Class reminders fire before every session of a class’s recurring schedule.

  1. Open Classes and click the class
  2. Go to the Schedule Reminders tab, click +
  3. Enter a Message for the reminder, Type, and Remind before
  4. Click Save

You can add more than one reminder to the same item — for example, a push reminder a day before and an email reminder an hour before — by repeating these steps with a different Type or Remind before.

Editing or Deleting a Reminder

Open the item the reminder is attached to (the assignment or event in the Planner, or the Schedule Reminders tab of a Class), then:

  • Click an existing reminder to change its Message, Type, or Remind before, then click Save
  • Delete a reminder to stop it from being sent

If you change the due date or start time of an assignment or event, its reminders are rescheduled automatically — there’s no need to re-create them. Deleting an assignment, class, or event also removes any reminders attached to it.

Helium Classic

In Helium Classic, reminders work similarly:

  • Popup — alerts in the browser
  • Email — sent to your registered email address

There are no Push notifications in Helium Classic.
